25 More Elle Expressions - Day 9

 Elle is Beaten Up!

"What's a Patchi?" Eldon asked his wife one morning.

"Patchi? Oh that's the latest craze, you know the toy Hoho's been working on?"

"I don't remember it having that name!" Eldon shrugged, but if anyone knew about the toys it would be Santa herself. "I've been so weighted with teddies, ragdolls and rubiks cubes that I haven't seen anything of this Patchy toy."

"Hmm, maybe it's time to switch the toymakers around a bit." Elle thought. "How come you're asking about Patchi?"

"Nic wants one for Christmas."

"Okay, I'll drop in at the workshop later and weasel one into Nic stocking!" Elle assured; being Santa comes with the benefits of picking a present for your child quite easily!

Some years ago, Hoho the hunchback elf had proposed a new toy line called Patchyhoho. It didn't go down very well and Elle was quite glad to see the back of it. But something Elle didn't realize is that despite just about nobody being in favour of Patchyhoho, the toy had continued development from home! Soon the toy looked much more marketable, to the point where it would become a big hit with the toy shops! The only condition provided was that it was given a new name, just Patchi.

Elle arrived at the workshops later that morning and was confident that little Nic's Christmas wish list would be satisfied. Elle knew Wendy was one of the elves assigned to work on Patchi and approached her.

"Morning, Wendy! How's the Patchi patching?" she asked, sprinkling a sense of humour into the conversation.

"It isn't," Wendy replied. "We're on fake dog poos now!" and she turned her wheelchair to show Elle a sample in her hand.

"Oh! Well I need to inspect the Patchis so I'd-"

"You'll be lucky! Unless you get there in the next five minutes they'll probably be off to one of the storage warehouses."

"Oh grief!" sighed Elle. "It would take ages to find a specific toy; I don't have that kind of time!" Elle realised that even as Santa, there wasn't much she could do. Getting a Patchi from within the workshops was simply out of the question. "Well thank you for that information, Wendy. Carry on."

The next day Elle decided she was going to hunt for Patchi instead of going to work, leaving her personal assistant in charge. It took her a few hours but at last she found a local shop with it's last Patchi's in stock! Elle rushed in and was just lucky enough to pick up the last one. However she was unlucky enough to have some competition. A brute of a mother shoved Elle aside to try and prize Patchi from her!

"Oi! Give's that Patchi!" she snapped.

"I beg your pardon?" Elle replied in disbelief. The mother reached for Patchi again.

"Give!" she snapped. Instincitvley, Elle thrust Patchi out of the mother's reach and held her other hand out to stop her. However in execution, she actually ended up slapping the mother around the face, quite hard!

The mother stared in disbelief and before Elle could make an apology, she retorted with something not so polite and went to punch Elle. As a result, a fight broke out in the shop, both Elle and the mum throwing fists at each other and not holding back! Elle even dropped Patchi at some point but the two were so focused on fighting each other that neither cared about Patchy anymore!

Soon members of staff turned up to break up the fight and have the customers pacified, one of them called the police and in all of the confusion, Patchi disappeared from the floor on which it fell. Elle's battle had been all for nothing. But there was worse to come...
