Elle's back! As a swan-song for this blog, I give to you the final season of the Santa and Elle stories. Follow Elle's journey as she is not only Santa but a mother now!
Elle is Joyful Crying
It had been a week since baby Nic was born. The little elf had been given birth to in the stable where Santa's reindeer lived. It had been quite an exciting occasion, but things had calmed down by now. All the elves had wanted to see and meet Nic but Elle was escorted off the premesis. She hasn't been seen at work since!
Eldon has just been tapping away at his phone while he sat in the armchair. Meanwhile Elle was cradling Nic as they looked out through the window to see the snowy landscape, cold as ever.
"Sorted." Eldon confirmed. "The mobile should be here next day."
"You hear that, Nic?" Elle spoke softly as she looked down to Nic. "You're gonna have eight reindeer flying over you every night!" Then Elle turned to Eldon. "Can you believe no one at the baby shower got a mobile?"
"Elaine could have gotten one, but I'm willing to bet she was just trying to out-do Eliza!" Eldon glanced over at the designer brand t-shirt fit for a baby which lay on the edge of the coffee table. Nic was currently wearing the cheaper alternative, that Eliza had gifted them with at the baby shower. Meanwhile Elle looked over to the clock and decided it was bedtime for Nic.
"Come on, Nic. Off to bed you go." Elle made her way upstairs, using the stair lift she had installed during her pregnancy. It was Eldon's idea and his way of looking after Elle. She just enjoyed not having to walk up and down the stairs, unless she was in a hurry!
Aside from the mobile, everything else in Nic's bedroom had been finished. The room was painted in a pastel red (and a snowy landscape painted on one of the walls) with snowy white furniture. Even the mattress and blanket in the cot were white, almost like Nic would be sleeping in a winter wonderland. Elle laid Nic to rest in his cot and she sang him a lullaby; Jingle Bells of course! Quite quickly, the lullaby put Nic to sleep and for a brief moment, there was silence.
Every night since they had gotten home, Elle would tear up at the sight of her baby falling asleep in the cot. Tonight was no exception. People joked that Eldon was the one getting through all of the tissues!
"Night, night, Nic." Elle softly whispered as Eldon placed his hand on her back. He too, was looking loving at their baby. Then he would look at Elle to check if she needed the tissues yet. Eldon decided it was time for them to leave the room and get some tissues for Elle; she was indeed crying happily again! Eldon flicked the light switch off as they left the room, but didn't fully close the door. Leaving the room, they made as little noise as possible so as not to have Nic crying too!
