Teenage Ninja Mutant Gorgeous Zebras

I have waited ages to get around to this! But at last the prompt suggested by Draw With Jazza has been fulfilled!

Jazza prompted us to design the Teenage Ninja Mutant Gorgeous Zebras, so I have done just that! Although what with Metazoomans being a thing, it's difficult to visually distinguish a mutant from an anthropomorphic animal, so I've tired my best to make them look mutant without losing the gorgeous element.

Firstly there's Edwardo the blue Zebra. This guy leads the team and wields a Dragon sword. What distinguishes him as a mutant is how he has a couple of tentacles that have grown out from his neck. It looks to be that he was formerly a Metazooman Zebra prior to this, so tentacles aside he is still seen as quite a catch!

The quartet's only girl is Pauline who works with a Han-bo and is the smartest of her group. She's good at problem solving but lacks physical strength given that when mutated her hands became Zebra tails! This make it difficult for her to do certain activities and is what has made her focus on growth of the mind.

The most obviously mutated member is Allen the yellow Zebra. He used to be human but got mutated and grew Zebra features, more dominantly below the waist. He thinks his new look is cute and doesn't want to change back, especially now he is part of an awesome ninja group! He wields twin Kama which he stores in a belt strapped to his right leg.

Lastly, and perhaps my favourite design, is Horace the red Zebra. With hooves for hands and a Chigi-riki, this guy certainly makes up the muscle of the team. This guy was just a Zebra to start with and still hasn't grasped any human languages so he lets his muscles do the talking. Horace is loyal to Edwardo and follows his word without slack or question.

So we've got these four ninjas, but do they fight crime? No sightings of Ninja activity have been spotted yet so it can only be assumed they're a social group as opposed to a fighting team- for now...

Lodgers Of The Lighthouse

Here's two new characters, setting course for the home of one you're definitely familiar with.

The sea air was making Finley feel nostalgic. He never recalled living near the sea but he had family who lived below the sea level and had often visited them with his family. He wasn't able to enjoy his surroundings to the full however, his rucksack's weight was finally starting to take a toll on him.

'Gee Bri, how much further do we need to go?'

'Almost there, we should be able to see the house from the top of this hill.' Finley's companion responded. Bri and Finley were roomates who met in their previous home, but with their tenant becoming corrupt with greed, the duo decided to leave for somewhere new. The best offer that seemed to be going was accommodation in a lighthouse just of the coast of Jansterwick. Bri was getting tired as well as she dragged her suitcase while looking at the map on her phone.

'I see something!' Finley chirped. 'But it doesn't look like any lighthouse I've ever seen.' As Finley and Bri proceeded up the slope, they could see just what Finley meant. It was the lighthouse, but it's roof structure had two giant horns mounted ontop of it. Otherwise the lighthouse has a rather conventional looking design and was enclosed in a small fortress. The fortress was like a small island off the coast, there was no way to get there by foot.

'Well this seems to be the place, but how are we supposed to get in? More to the point how can we even let the tenant know we're here?' Bri pondered and began to think of a solution. 'Maybe he'll hear our voices if we call out.'

'Or I could swim up to the house?' Finley pointed out. Without hesitation or approval Finley marched on to swim, but Bri grabbed him by the rucksack to put to stop to his plan.

'Hold it, goldfish brain.' she sighed. 'You don't want to wear that while you're swimming.' She pointed to Fin's heavy rucksack.

'I'm a strong fella for my size!' Finley proudly stated.

'And a dim one too, take it off.' Finley was indeed strong, but he also knew that Bri knew better than him and so did as she said. If it wasn't for her they wouldn't even have known about the lighthouse.

Without the weight of the rucksack, Finley swam up to the lighthouse as Bri waited. A few minuets later, a swan boat peddled up to the shore with a raft close by. The raft was pushed by Finley while the swan boat was captained by a middle-aged moth with four arms. He was dressed for show, bearing a helmet and a cape. As he arrived to shore and Bri walked down to him, the moth man  stood up and stretched his arms out into the air.

'Lady and Metazooman gentleman; you are about to enter the estate of evil, the loathsome lair of the lighthouse, the central headquarters of the Convolvulous Hawk!' declared the tenant. Finley looked excited by this introduction, but Bri immediately saw why their new home was so cheap.

'Oh give me strength. Why do I get the feeling a normal day is about to become a distant memory?' she thought to herself.

So it looks like Agrius Moth is about to get some company in his home, how will they adapt to living around Agrius' evil agenda? Stick around on the blog and maybe you'll find out in the future!

Albiona's Friend

It's safe to say Albiona is a very shy girl, giving us little to no opportunity to see her coming out of her shell. She's got a friend however who's a bit more comfortable coming out of her shell, meet Blanc Borror.

This was a quick and fun piece to compose, it started out as just drawing Albiona and Blanc and then I got out some art tools and had a bit more fun. I should do my research since I can't figure out the name of the tools I used; they're those curvy stencil like pieces that allow you to draw all sorts of elipses, circles and curves. I used these to create the shapes used as an abstract background. It certainly beats my traditional squared backgrounds and looks very interesting!

Blanc is part of an art trade in which myself and another artist drew our likenesses in our own style. You may know Blanc more familiarly as BlankERROR on YouTube; she does cool animations and composes stunning artwork. Check out her channel sometime!

Do you have a friend that you want to draw? Or are you and a friend interested in doing an art trade? It's a fun excerise that only allows you to grow as an artist but allows you to please a friend with your artistic talents, it's great fun and something I've always wanted to do!

Draw this again? | Which one does Ida shoot?

This art work makes one of the farthest call backs in Droey's Draws to date, going back to the first illustration to ever feature Ida and the Katou twins! Do you remember this piece?

Boy do they look different now! Ladies and gentleman I present to you a remake of this artwork.

Droey and Co. are having a game of laser tag at TopTag. Ida wasn't certain on whether or not she wanted to play but was persuaded by John to join the game. Lacy wasn't even supposed to be there, she had been asked to come in to the college and she 'hadn't checked her messages'. The Katou twins had been out in the town and accepted the offer of joining in for a game.

It was a fun time for everyone, though Lacy was beginning to regret her decision. There was more running around and shooting the other players than she bargained for! Ida was doing great, despite being so indecisive she proved to be rather skilled at laser tag. She was doing so well until at one point she was able to corner the Katou twins. Ida pointed her gun at them and her eyes darted between the pair, she found her self unable to decide which one she'd shoot first! If she didn't do something, the Katou twins would just shoot her since she was an equally open target!

I think this might be my first official Draw This Again challenge since starting the blog, correct me if I'm wrong. Give this challenge a try yourself, see how old a piece you can find to recreate and then look back on how far you've developed your artistic skills!

Droey's 2020 Vision + Meet The Artist

Welcome to 2020! Got a couple of things for you today. First of all is my revamped #meettheartist profile with a brand new look for Droey Drawson! The next thing is a couple of changes that will be happening on this blog.

So what's new with Droey's image? Well over the past few years his beard (or goatee as it gets called) has grown out to the point where three hair strands no longer justify it! Another change to the hair is that I keep my hair in a ponytail these days, it stops the hair getting in my face on a windy day. The majority of the costume has also changed. I'm now sporting my favourite blue hoodie and a blue jumper underneath. Between these two layers is the spoon shirt, but not as we know it; the shirt is red and white instead of blue and silver!

So what about these changes to the blog? Well Droey's Draws has been on a bumpy ride lately, as not only is there a lot of manage single-handedly but I am also studying art in college and need to make my time available for other commitments as well. In order to keep up with both college and Droey's Draws, the following changes will or should be taking place:

  • Content will be posted weekly on Saturdays for the blog.
  • In light of YouTube's COPPA law, the channel will be taking a hiatus so no new videos will be released for the time being.
  • My main platforms are changing to Instagram and Wix. Both by now are active and are to replace activity on the blog by 2021.

With an active wixsite which provides links to all of my social media and can potentially support it's own blog service, the need for a separate blog site feels redundant and so I shall be playing about with the idea of running a new blog there. This blog shall remain open so that the three-four years of content released is not lost. By then the blog will likely be a place where news is posted, with Instagram being the main place for artwork to be viewed. If you do not have Instagram access but are with Facebook then you should not be missing out as the accounts are linked.

The goal here is to eventually abolish the schedule and post content as and when I can, so that I can prioritize my college work. On top of that I will be reducing the amount of pages I have to manage which will allow me to get stuff done faster, and ideally with a lot less writing. I doubt an artist can justify every one of their works with paragraphs of writing!

This is not the end of Droey's Draws and nothing is being scrapped, this is just a step in another direction in the hopes of achieving new goals. Droey's Draws has always been focused on the journey of an artist that that journey requires me to move along. To those who have faithfully followed this blog so far, I thank you and assure that this supposed last year of content will still be enjoyable as the rest!
