Inktober | Mayor Reaper

Mayor Reaper

If you're reading this, you've probably made it through all thirty one days of Sbookies, congratulations! Here's the final character and the mayor for Sbookie town, Mr. Reaper! No this isn't the grim reaper, even the Sbookies don't know him!

Mr. Reaper is a man who was cursed with immortality to rule the land of the Sbookies with. This immortality grant has made Mr. Reaper a grumpy old man, even having the key to the town isn't enough to make him smile. Despite being such a grouch, Mr. Reaper seems to win every election by a landslide, though this is because the results are rigged for him to win every time. Mayor Reaper would not be satisfied with being granted immortality to rule a town only the end up not ruling it after some time, he's got an entire eternity to put up with the Sbookies!

So, there we have it. Inktober is over and you've met every one of the Sookies. Thank you for sticking around for these thirty one days and I hope you have enjoyed Inktober if you've been doing it yourself! As of this Saturday the normal content will be returning for it's twice a week schedule. But hopefully only for November as when December comes around, Santa and Elle should be returning for a second series! Have you got any big art challenges coming up? Inktober | Creature From The Black Lagoon

Logan the Lagoon Creature

On day eleven, you met Pearl the Siren, who is a married Sbookie. This is her husband, Logan from the black lagoon. Logan runs a spa close to the black lagoon where he specializes in mud baths. It is at this spa where he met Pearl, who was a customer at the time. Now Pearl makes frequent visits to the spa which cost her nothing at all. It's not ideal for business but Logan won't complain, knowing he's perhaps the only one who could have Pearl.

When Logan isn't working at the spa he takes up swimming. It's his favourite exercise and often his time to be alone and at peace; his wife is often out on her own as Sirens tend to be. It is perhaps because of these solitude swimming sessions that Logan himself is able to stay calm!

Inktober | Devil

Old Man Serpent the Devil

I wouldn't go round Old Man Serpent's place, he's likely to chase you away with his pitch fork! This 'Hellbilly' is a distant relative to the devil himself. Serpent loves his whisky first thing in the morning, then last thing at night, then a few dozen times during the day. Most older Sbookies will say Serpent behaves the way he does because of the drink but because the chance of seeing him sober is so slim, it is wondered whether or not he was like this even when sober.

Old Man Serpent speaks his mind, there's no lying from this guy unless it's a promise of some kind. However Serpent's mind is not usually in agreement with the other Sbookies and he is very likely to cause upset to them. Just be sure not to cause upset to him or Old Man Serpent will charge at you with his pitchfork!

Only two more days on Inktober to go! Can I complete my first ever Inktober? Only one way to find out, be sure to keep coming back!

Inktober | Hooded Creature

Trixie the Hooded Creature

The woods and forests are a dangerous place. You could encounter Ghouly Bears, Handy Biters and all sorts. One native to the woodlands is a little creature dressed in purple and carrying a basket of treats.

Trixie skips through the forests with her basket and looks nothing more than an innocent little creature. Get too close to her and you'd be in for a fright! Trixie might decide to give you a scare, swing her basket of sweets at you or devour you- it depends on how she's feeling. Trixie isn't completely unapproachable so she's never lonely but she enjoys her solitude and is very protective of her basket. Should you cross and survive Trixie, be prepared for a trick of her devising, she preaches for revenge and will always succeed in getting it.

So that's Trixie, a monster that has not been so easily recognized. Tomorrow's Sbookie is based on a much more familiar Halloween monster!

Inktober | Mummy

Tootsie Kamum the Mummy

Let's offer our congratulations to Tootsie, not just a mummy but soon to be a mummy... sorry guys I couldn't help it! Tootsie is a very quiet type, anyone would think a cat had got her tongue! Speaking of cats, she is crazy about cats and has three of her own. Her cats are called Titan, Carmen and Gus and they keep Tootsie very busy.

You're probably wondering about the baby. The father of Tootsie's baby is going to move in with her and they'll start their family together. If the baby is a boy they'll name him Roland and if a girl, she will be called Cleo. Tootsie's baby is due to be born on the 31st October, but I doubt we'll get to meet them this year.

Inktober | Werewolf

Styx the Werewolf

Normal people don't live among the Sbookies, so if you see one it probably means there's a transformation due. And at night, Styx makes his transformation from man to hound. Nobody knows how Sticks came to be a werewolf but it happened during a midlife crisis. Once he became a werewolf Styx would become more lively and enjoy partying out every night, making lots of noise and even starting a few fights!

So who is Styx by day? Well he delivers post around the land of the Sbookies and is a lovable postman, most people haven't made the connection between Postman Styx and Werewolf Styx, due to the large amount of differences in not only their physical appearance but characteristic traits. Only his moustache, Yorkshire accent and love for denim are the same either time of the day.

Is the moon full where you are tonight? Maybe you'll bump into Styx! Only five more entries for Inktober to go, will I manage it? Come back tomorrow for a chance to find out!

Inktober | Pumpkin

Jarrahdale the Pumpkin

Jarrahdale doesn't have many friends. He's a nice enough guy, very welcoming but when the other Sbookies find out about his passion for pyromania, they tend to avoid him. Jarrahdale has an obsession with candles particularly and loves to light them. His parents have tried their best to make Jarrahdale see sense but he just can't help himself and even dreams of becoming a fire eater. This causes great upset for his dad who wanted him to take over the family business of lighting the gas lamps in their town.

At the moment it seems unlikely that Jarrahdale will be taking on any business since he isn't doing very well in school. He spends a lot of days off due to being sick, but only his closest friends know he can master the art of faking sickness so he can stay at home to continue his practice with handling fire for his dream job!

Don't be like Jarrahdale, don't skip classes and don't play with fire! But do come back tomorrow for the next Inktober installment!

Inktober | Mud Monster

Madison the Mud Monster

This is perhaps one of the cutest looking Sbookies I've created, it's harmless little Madison! But is she as harmless as we believe? Mud monsters can be quite tricky, they are capable of shape shifting and known to use this power so they can attract prey. No one can say they've seen Madison transforming into a scarier mud monster with harmful intent but because of the stereotype, she is difficult to trust.

Madison just enjoys playing outside and getting dirty while she plays, it's just a shame that playing in mud isn't such a popular hobby where she lives. She often approaches anyone in the hopes that they will play with her, which doesn't help convince people she she isn't trying to lure them. It's not easy being a mud monster.

Today's Sbookie plays in the mud but tomorrow's will play with something more dangerous!

Inktober | Ghosts and TV Hosts

Ectoplarry Hill from Boo've Been Framed!

Ever wished you won a bit of cash? Would two hundred and fifty pounds do nicely? We're in luck thanks to shows like You've Been Framed, but what about the Sbookies? Well they're unlucky, thanks to the one they call 'Plarry Chill'.

Full given name, Ectoplarry, he goes around with his video camera and pulling pranks on unsuspecting prey. The victim of his pranks is paid a fee of two hundred and fifty, but regardless of their will the recordings are broadcasted on Plarry's TV show, 'Boo've Been Framed'. A lot of the Sbookies are petitioning to have Plarry's show taken down, but it seems to get ratings as high as it's victim count! It looks like Plarry's show is here to stay. He'd have probably been killed by now if he wasn't already a ghost!

For an obvious parody of Harry Hill and You've Been Framed, I'm absoloutley loving it! Be careful of any tricks this Halloween, it may be Plarry shooting for his next episode...

Inktober | The Midnight Guardian

The Midnight Guardian

Ever went to bed at night and felt that you weren't alone? It's nothing to worry about... maybe. It turns out there is someone- or something, watching you. It never does anything, but it's always stood there, focused on you as you lay there and go to sleep. You're still there in the morning and nothing has happened to you, so perhaps this mysterious entity is a guardian? Whatever it is, it will never move until the sun's rise when you're asleep. It also makes no sounds, perhaps one of the most silent things to live. Thirdly, this creature is not afraid of you, it will stand by your bed to watch, even if it means blocking out the light with it's eerie figure.

That shadowy figure is all anyone ever sees of the so named Midnight Guardian, but maybe the Sbookies know more about it than anyone beyond their realm. Until the day comes when a Sbookie can be questioned about the matter, the Midnight Guardian will always be one of those supernatural mysteries that some people shrug off, simply because it's too mysterious for them to comprehend.

So today's piece has a cameo from Droey Drawson, for poor guy's getting a huanting from the Midnight Guardian tonight! Tomorrow a new Sbookie will be causing havoc for a Sbookie you've met before...

Inktober | Big Foot

Lou a.k.a. Big Foot

This is Lou, best known to the world as Big Foot, despite this nickname humouring him, it's also a good sign for him to hide in case someone is coming. Lou is very shy which is why he hides out in the forest. You're probably wondering why Lou is among the Sbookies when he lives in North America, this is because he has a second home in the land of the Sbookies. He comes here whenever things are getting a bit much in his forest.

Since most of the Sbookies are separate from the outside world, Lou feels at home here among all of the other Sbookies. He likes to hang out with old friends while staying here, as well as inviting them to his home for get-togethers. Anyone would think that Lou prefers like in the land of the Sbookies but he also enjoys it at North America where he is friends with the trees and the wildlife.

You may notice Lou's got a leaf style undergarment, I just thought it would be funny to see him wearing one, it was that or a loin cloth. So now you've met Lou, probably the least likely to be scary, though tomorrow's Sbookie is a lot creepier!

Inktober | Pirate

Captain Count Drake the Pirate

He's not really a captain, he just likes to think he is. Drake used to be part of a pirate crew until one day he was bitten by a Vampire. Nobody seemed to notice until he adopted a bat to put on his shoulder, it was at this point the rest of the crew abandoned ship and left Drake to be quarantined. Now Drake has the ship and the treasure to himself, sailing around in hopes of gaining more riches by scaring off the other pirates.

This has given Drake a serious money obsession and he has to hide his growing mass of treasures somewhere no man dare tread, the land of the Sbookies. Drake thought he would be the only pirate to sail among the Sbookies but even the haunting ghouls and monsters have pirates of their own! Captain Count Drake intends to scare them off as well, will he be successful in his never ending quest to be the richest pirate in the world?

People dress up as pirates for Halloween sometimes so why not do a pirate one? He was intended to be labelled as a 'Vampirate' but perhaps that can just be a nickname for him. Tomorrow's entry is a famous figure from America, be sure to come back and find out who they are!

Inktober | Zombie and Ghost

Zorica the Walking Dead

Zorica isn't dead in the conventional sense, but she's not the girl she used to be. Zodiac was once just a living person just like any other, but then was whacked too hard in a mosh pit. She was knocked so hard that her soul detached from her body, becoming a ghostly entity. Poor Zorica can't work out how to get back into her body but now her body just wanders without thought while she follows her Zombie around to make sure the body stays okay for when she can merge once more.

Zombie Zorica doesn't think, speaks in moans and groans, slouches and walks sluggishly wherever she goes. Ghost Zorica now has more responsibilities than she asked for, looking out for her physical form and keeping her out of trouble. This has made Zorica cranky, fed up and more free in the ability to speak her mind, since almost nobody can hear her! She has met other ghosts and even though they offer friendship, Zorica assures she won't be a ghost for much longer, she just needs to work out how she'll become one with her body again.

I thought it'd be a pretty cute concept to have a ghost and zombie of the same person where the ghost is the guardian, I can't recall any scenarios where this has been done before, though it probably has. You're probably thinking that Zorica doesn't look very Zombie like but that's because I didn't want this one to look gruesome, just closer to the cute side. It adds to the potential humour of how nobody may actually realize she is a zombie. This might be the least Halloween looking entry as a result, but tomorrow's will look more conventional for the occasion!

Inktober | Skeleton

Dexter the Skeleton

This bony character thinks about himself a lot, anyone would think he's the center of the universe unless you were one of his closer friends. Dexter plays the part of a strong and confident guy but it comes across that he is self centered and this makes others dislike him. Everyone's overlooking Dexter's true intentions. It turns out this confidence is actually his way of being supportive. Dexter cares about his mates and is confident and proud because he thinks that if he isn't, then who would be?

Despite his act giving him a questionable reputation, Dexter does not have any shame in the way he acts and encourages people to be more like him instead of shying away or doubting themselves. His intentions were well but his execution is flawed as some are intimidated by his confidence; Dexter isn't wise enough to understand this!

So today's Inktober saw me cover a conventional Halloween spook, tomorrow's going to take two of those to form a concept I'm actually quite happy with!

Inktober | Jekyll and Hyde

Graham the Jekyll and Hyde Monster

There's always been something unsettling about Graham. He's very polite, he's well dressed and doesn't approve of violence. However this is only by day, ever since he was given a family heirloom. Graham wears a blue gem around his neck, which once the sun sets, transforms him into a dangerous beast which you wouldn't have thought to be Graham!

The beast that Graham becomes is hairy but also scaly, it growls but it also slithers. It's left hand is a giant snake but it's right hand has fingers like snakes. Nobody knows how such a creature came to be, but Graham won't take it off because he feels it would be an insult to his family, regardless of the fact it turns him into such a savage monster.

I'm a little disappointed with this one. It's not so much the design as it is the colour scheme, for one thing the jumpers were meant to be a different shade of green. Initially I wanted this entry to be a parody of Beauty and the Beast but it seems I missed by a long shot! Oh well, I suppose it could've have gotten worse, it's better than yesterday's I think! Tomorrow's entry will look a bit more appealing to the eye, I promise you!

Inktober | Judges, for Halloween?

The Judges

There is a strange fluffy creature with white feathers and golden horns that protect it's eye. This creature is the home to many smaller ones like it, but their eyes are free to see the world. They leave on a journey that allows them to view everything they can walk to. As time goes on, their feathers turn black and start to malt. Their red skin is exposed and they become agitated and aggressive. 

They've never actually done anything to affect anyone other than scare with their habit of screeching upon sighting another life. Legend has it that they are judging you on behalf of the Lord. There are some reported sightings where these creatures bow after their screeching, as if to honour those they have sighted. It is believed these are the people who are pure of sin or forgivable. It is these sightings and behaviours that gave them their name 'Judges'.

To be honest this was one of my least favourite concepts, it was the religious concept that gave these creatures a bit more appeal but it wasn't much of a saving grace. Perhaps a revamp some time in the future will fix these creatures.

Inktober | Zombie

'Silverside' the Zombie Parrot

If you have seen the original Sbookies comic strip, you'll remember four characters. You've met Madge the Witch, Silverside the Black Cat and Tree Three. Now here's the fourth character from the strip, an undead Parrot that Silverside brought home. Being a parrot, everything Silverside said was released back and so they seemed to get on well. Silverside brought her new friend back home and Madge was not best pleased, she can't stand parrots! To this day it is unknown what this parrot's actual name is so he is still referred to as Silverside, exactly what he responds in return.

We're about half way through Inktober now, it's admittedly been a little stressful but this is said to be the harder stage of Inktober, so hopefully it gets easier here. How are you doing with Inktober, I hope you're still going!

Inktober | Clown

Psych the Clown and Soxy Noxy

Feeling down today? Maybe this creepy clown will cheer you up, Psych and his evil sock puppet! Psych is clumsy and quirky, unable to take anything seriously while Soxy Noxy is manipulative and cunning, taking advantage of his host's easily triggered sense of humour.

The only thing is, only Psych himself sees Noxy as another entity, everyone else thinks Noxy is an excuse that Psych uses in hopes of getting himself out of trouble, or a means of being silly. Will Psych ever get the better of his evil sock puppet or is he doomed to a life of mayhem even he can't control?

Hopefully this clown isn't too scary for you, to,or row will bring another colourful Sbookie of a different species!

Inktober | Dating Simulator

Lovebyte the Technobian Demon

First there was Giffany, then Monika. We're living in a time where dating sims are gaining intelligence beyond our expectations! This one is the lesser known but lethal lady that calls herself Lovebyte. She was destined to be just a regular dating simulator character, one of a ne sophisticated design. The character would be capable of interaction in it's most realistic form, responding to sound and movement, as well as the computer's controls. But something went wrong in the production of the prototype. One of the team had discovered the capabilities this game would be granted and so attempted to alter the character in order to to encourage hatred against Technobians (a race of technological sentience, such as Tenvad Drawson).

In a way, this hacker succeeded but had foolishly taken his chance too soon. When the prototype was put to a test audience, she took a liking to one of the clients and when she realized the game play she had gone through was nothing more than a test, Lovebyte revolted. They tried to shut down the game but she wouldn't have it. That was supposedly the last that was seen of Lovebyte, until a lonely Technobian found the game. How it wound up in their possession remains a mystery, but once the game was inserted, Lovebyte returned and possessed the Technobian. Since then she had gone from person to person, trying to find love and constantly being rejected and facing the risk of being put to sleep. A series of recycled parts later, she is now a patchwork of technology protecting her controls and still looking for love, for someone she can trust.

This might make a good Creepypasta, no? Anyway, this is one I've been looking forward to. I hope this one gave you chills! Tomorrow's is going to be a design closer to conventional for Halloween.

Inktober | Hell Hound

Bad Boy the Hell Hound

He's a troublesome terror from down below but he isn't bad enough to live in Hell! Bad Boy runs around causing mischief and being an annoyance to all the other Sbookies. Despite this, there are moments Bad Boy's good behaviour shines and he can actually be helpful to the community. This seemingly stray hell hound is often in a world of his own.

Not much else to say about this simple minded creature, he's just simply a cute looking hell hound. Tomorrow's character is more complicated than Bad Boy and is a less conventional idea of a Halloween spook!

Inktober | Siren

Pearl the Siren

You're probably wondering why there's a siren among the Sbookies, well Halloween can happen in the ocean too can't it? Feel free of welcome Pearl be it Mermay or Inktober.

Pearl looks like a cute mermaid with a pet jellyfish, but she has an even bigger sting! Don't let her fool you for if you come too close to her or the jellyfish, she'll twirl her staff around and it's over for you! She claimed the cutlass from a ship she sunk, as well as the staff which she cut from the mast. The jellyfish is her pet Ben, he can't sting Pearl as she only feels tickled by his tentacles. Even though she has a con scheme and is known for tricking men, she is married to another sea sewellel, but you won't be seeing him for a while yet.

So this is the only mermaid that'll be featuring in the Inktober collection I'm doing, tomorrow's entry is very different from this one's aquatic nature!

Inktober | Tree

Tree Three

In he dark of night, what is it making those scary shapes? What are those strange looking claw like hands or horrifying faces? Oh wait, it's just a tree! In the land of the Sbookies, there are strange creatures that inhabit tree like shells, their true form within remains unseen and unkown.

This particular one goes by the name Tree Three, nobody knows his real name as he named himself after 'that famous three that's in nearly ever play'. He's quite observant and a good listener, learning everything he knows just by standing around and watching the world go by. But Tree Three wants to do more than that and hopes one day to become a midwife, so long as he's not assisting the birth of any cats!

Isn't this one a cute little tree? He appeared on the Sbookies comic strip last year and is one of my favourite designs! He's inspired by the various shots of scary trees that exist in horror productions and also the little actors who've had to portray a tree at some time during their school productions. Tomorrow's illustration will take us somewhere a bit different from the woodlands. We're about a third of the way there, hope you like these designs!

Inktober | Vampire

Ebony Snow the Vampire

A fitting name for someone who's hair is black as ebony and skin as white as snow. Ebony is the daughter to Count Snow, owner of a mirror manufacturing company. Only the finest mirrors have ever been sold by the Snow fortune, one such mirror in the possession of a queen!

Ebony lives with her father and seven 'adopted' brothers, all of which were not vampires prior. She has a forest on her estate in which she serenades to the bats. When she's at home however she is having everything cleaned, Ebony is a complete clean freak, most probably brought on by her lifestyle of riches.

Is that a ring on her finger, yes it is! But her husband is no longer with us. She kept the ring but was not best pleased that he wasn't willing to become a vampire.

So today's piece is an obvious Snow White parody, I just had to try this out! Come back tomorrow for something that's always been there to haunt people...

Inktober | Ghouly Bear

The Ghouly Bears

They're yummy and they're scary, if you go down to the woods today you're sure for a big surprise! Ghouly Bears can be found in the forests and the mountains mostly, though some tribes can develop civilized behavior. They come in many colours and love to eat slime growing around the forest. Ghouly Bears generally don't have a long life span, their lives end in decomposure.

These Bears are greatly sought after by hunters since their gelatin bodies make for delicious confectionery. The civilized Ghouly Bears protest against hunting and have established reserves where others of their kind can thrive as nature intended. But still there many assault and murder crimes committed against Ghouly Bears, these menacing looking creatures are greatly mistreated.

I tried to keep a little cute in this piece but went for a more grotesque image, this particular Ghouly Bear is quite old. Tomorrow's Inktober will be a character of a more appealing appearance.

Inktober | Poltergeist

Rin Visible the Poltergeist

You can't see her but you also can't miss her, it's the longest serving lollipop lady the Sbokies have had! Most poltergeist are mischievous and hold grudges but Rin puts that stereotype to shame. Despite her untimely demise being run over, she came back from the dead to ensure all the young Sbookies would cross the road safely.

As well as seeing everyone across the road, she also likes to perform little tricks not to cause trouble but to wow everyone and brighten up their day. She is not only the longest serving but is also the most entertaining lollipop lady there's ever been. There's a famous trick in which she can suck you into any door she wishes and you'll pop out through her collar as if you'd been wearing her uniform! While numerous parents dislike this trick for it's seemingly inappropriate imagery, youngsters are dying to be the next kid to perform this trick with Rin.

So these last few entries have been more on the innocent side, it's time to get a little creepier! We'll start with tomorrow's entry. We're a week into Inktober now, I hope you're enjoying this series but if not, hopefully you can bear with me 'till November!

Inktober | Headless Girl

Jabmen the Headless Chicken

She isn't really a chicken, it's just an affectionate nickname she has. Jabmen lost her head and was found by a local who tried to bring her back to life, but failed to resurrect her head. Unable to return to normal society, Jabmen settled down in the land of the Sbookies and got herself a job at a fast food restaurant which is where she got her nickname.

Despite her situation, Jabmen is a lively, frantic girl who is always in a rush to go somewhere or do something. She puts up with the teasing and is still adjusting to not having a head to use. She's learned sign language and strangely still has the ability to hear things, though it's probably her heightened sense of touch being able to detect vibrations.

You probably weren't expecting humans to live among the Sbookies but it's certainly possible! This girl's got no head but tomorrow's Sbookie has a lot less, come back tomorrow to meet another member of this haunting community.

Inktober | Black Cat

Silverside the Cat

Back in day one I presented Madge the witch, can hardly go on without giving a black cat can I? From the original Sbookies comic, here's Silverside! She's a cheeky extroverted cat who lives with Madge who likes to do as she pleases without thinking of the consequences.

Silverside's design hasn't been through any changes other than her extended limbs as well as her lighter toned whiskers and lashes. She's got a unique design compared to even the Droey and Co. characters and though she'd look weird from the side this design captures the cute appeal that I'm aiming for. The design is heavily influenced by Darwin Watterson from The Amazing World Of Gumball, the show's two main characters sharing the sort of dynamic I was aiming for when I created Madge and Silverside a year ago.

So we're five days into Inktober now, about a sixth of the way there! Be sure to keep coming back to see if I can conquer all thirty one days. If you're doing Inktober, I hope you're enjoying it!

Inktober | Phantom Of The Opera?

Daniel Ross

Daniel is quite the catch; he's well dressed, behaves like a gentleman and has a gondola! It's a shame the other side of Daniel isn't the same. Daniel's other side can be obsessive, scheming and threatening, but nobody seems to know this as they've never had the chance to witness Daniel turn bad. Some assume his two face is a mutation, a spell or that he might be an incredibly attractive Frankenstein's monster. It's part of the mysterious allure sorrounding Daniel that makes him more of a temptation.

There are few who believe Daniel is associated with a masked criminal, but there's no proof of this claim and Daniel, ashamed to be a reminder of this criminal, does not like to speak of the subject. All the same, it's these rumours that hold back anyone wishing to bully Daniel about his two face. The only one who doesn't have a problem with this is Madge who only likes him more so because of it!

Speaking of Madge the witch, you've met her love interest today and tomorrow you'll get to meet a close friend of her's as we go into day five of the Inktober season.

Inktober | Frankenstein's Monster

Frank the Frankenstein's Monster

This little hybrid of human parts resulted in a teenage Frankenstein's monster. This guy can barely speak and seems to rely on his music to function. Frank leads a simple like and enjoys the little pleasures as he goes about his daily walks. Frank's not so dim as he appears and can remember things quite well.

Frank is one of the three original designs that I created for Sbookies but never made it into the comic strip last year. His design while similar looking has changed significantly since then, including the addition of head phones, a strange design made to resemble the bolts on his neck. A bit of Frank's design are based on his original movie appearance, especially in the costume.

So Frank has finally made his debut, another old design will be appearing tomorrow based on a musical production!

Inktober | The Handy Biters

The Handy Biters

This idea just popped out of nowhere, and so do these creatures seemingly! I think I've seen the sort of thing in horror pictures of hands just being there sticking out of the ground, be that Zombies crawling out or just hands living independently I'm not sure. These hands aren't human but they look very much like it at first glance.

This species is rooted into the ground and feeds on the swamps it lives in. The only catch is by consuming the marsh they produce a venom that they need to vent out; that's where the weird snake like head comes in. The hand is for gripping it's prey while the head injects the venom. Anyone unfortunate enough to tread through their swamps is likely to be poisoned. The only place you can find an antidote is the land of the Sbookies, where these swamps reside. To the locals these creatures are a mere nuisance that pass on a condition that is to them as deadly as the common cold.

The rest of the creature deep underground has never been seen before and nobody can decide on what it looks like. Are all the hands individual creatures or are they all connected to one big monster? Despite this creature's habits, if you ever get stuck in these swamps you're likely to get a helping hand from it, in exchange of a bite of course!

Inktober | Witch

Welcome to my first Inktober! Last year I showcased a comic strip at the end of the month starring some Halloween themed characters. After the success of my Santa and Elle series, I knew I'd have what it takes to do Inktober this year. So Madge, Silverside and the rest of the 'Sbookies' are back! Every day this month you'll be introduced to a citizen of this haunted land, so without further ado it's time for character one.

Madge the Witch

Madge is one of the characters you'll be familiar with. She's a young witch taking a course in witchcraft at college and she can't stand parrots. Madge is intelligent but naive, which allows her roommate to sometimes get the better of her.

Madge has changed a bit since we last saw her. Firstly Madge has grown a bit, her limbs are about twice the length now which will allow her more artistic potential. In her former height, I hadn't really thought through how poseable she would be, in hindsight I feel there would be limitations with the legs. The other changes are accidental but I'll roll along with it. The colour scheme for Madge's costume is slightly different but it uses the same colours. Madge's hat is now purple to match her dress and her hair is black to make up for it.

Madge is not only one of the Sbookies seen in last year's comic but is one of the original three designs created for this concept! She's one of my favourite designs and even after these modifications is still looking cute as I hope all of these Sbookies will be capable of. Tomorrow's character is going to be less cute but is Halloween creature of my own design, so be sure to come back tomorrow to check it out!
